Adult Workshops

90 minute Parent/Carer Workshops and half day Staff Training

“Big explanations, different simple strategies to use, short and clear information, brilliant non-judgemental space, great pace.”

- Primary School Parent

Parent/Carer Workshops

Our 90 minute workshops show how Parents and Carers can best support their children and compliment the PTR programme.

These workshops provide a ‘whole child approach’ and have been deeply appreciated within the communities we have worked with so far.  They are engaging, interactive and rich in the latest research on the mind-body connection, empowering parents and carers with a deeper understanding of their child’s emotions and behaviours.

As well as gaining valuable knowledge, Parents and Carers learn helpful tools and strategies, ranging from Breathwork and movement to confidence and retraining thoughts through positive psychology.  These tools can be used by both the children and adults to bring balance and calm and build the foundations towards a calmer and more harmonious connection at home.

“Truly valuable advice, ideas and tips and tools - I’ve certainly taken away plenty to practise for myself and for my children.”

- Primary School Parent

Our workshops also include time for sharing, with an opportunity for discussion. Many participants find this extremely beneficial and are grateful to have the time and space to share their experiences and hear from others.

With the feedback so overwhelmingly positive and so many Parents and Carers asking for further sessions, we have taken their feedback on board and created Workshops 2 and 3 to delve deeper into this nourishing and life-enhancing work.

Does this supportive workshop feel like something you want to bring to the Parents and Carers of the children you work with?  Contact us to find out more.

This training is fun, engaging, interactive creative and nourishing.

Working in education is a career path many of us start with a passion and flare for supporting  children and adolescents and a desire to inspire and motivate the future generation. Sadly, it seems many members of staff experience the pressures of the profession resulting in some feeling waves of stress and overwhelm and others even burning out, leaving the profession altogether.

Nowadays staff need to be constantly ‘switched on’ dealing with challenging behaviour, supporting children who are struggling, navigating safeguarding issues as well as meeting assessment deadlines, children's targets and government expectations.  Having been in the profession ourselves, we are well aware of the daily challenges faced by our colleagues, we have seen the states of hyper-vigilance, sending cortisol whirling around the body and locking people into a low-level adrenal stress response.

This workshop has been carefully and thoughtfully created by two former teachers and a child and adolescent psychotherapist, and is underpinned with a deep understanding of the daily challenges staff are faced with. Drawing on decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge, PTR brings you the latest physiology, psychoeducation and evidence-based tools to not only help children and adolescents but also the staff who support them.

During this empowering and informative workshop staff are given a chance to pause and reflect on their role and how their emotional landscape fluctuates throughout the day.  They are given time to experience the quick and effective tools used to find calm, bring balance or increased energy when needed. The same tools are covered in the children’s programme, so staff are easily able to embed the practices in the classroom or setting.

Staff are given an insight into the science of the mind-body connection and learn what happens in the nervous system when someone comes into a stressed or overwhelmed state - whether that be a child, young person or adult. They also explore how their own nervous system can impact the emotions and behaviours of the children they work with.

The training offers the opportunity to experience quick, easily accessible and effective tools and strategies that not only benefit them in their professional role, but can also be utilised in their personal life. There is time to build an understanding of the power of positive-psychology through movement and Breathwork, laying the foundations to best support and maintain a more balanced day-to-day life.

Throughout the session there are opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences, allowing staff to reflect on the children they work with, how they can help specific individuals, small groups or the whole class build resilience and, in turn, foster calmer and more harmonious connections within the setting.
